This metric monitors the total number of unique Bitcoin addresses with balances of 100 BTC or more—typically referred to as “Bitcoin whales.” This group consists of high-net-worth individuals, investment funds, corporations, and long-term strategic investors.

In contrast to price charts, data regarding Bitcoin whales and address balances provides insight into how Bitcoin is distributed throughout the network. An increase in wallets holding substantial BTC balances signifies a concentration of capital among larger holders, which analysts often interpret as a sign of long-term confidence rather than short-term speculation.

This milestone occurs while Bitcoin trades approximately 30% below its historical highs, in a year characterized by greater institutional participation, increased acceptance of Bitcoin as a treasury asset, and expanded access through regulated investment products.

Analysts have noted that the accumulation behavior of large holders has remained robust even during periods of market consolidation and pullbacks, suggesting limited distribution from this group.

It is important to note that a single entity may control multiple addresses, thereby complicating the direct correlation between address counts and individual holders. Nevertheless, fluctuations in this metric are frequently utilized to evaluate structural trends within the market.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was valued at approximately $90,443, reflecting a decline of about 1% over the previous 24 hours. Daily trading volume was estimated at around $45 billion, while total market capitalization dipped to approximately $1.80 trillion.

Despite this modest pullback, Bitcoin remains closely rangebound near recent highs, approximately 2% below its seven-day peak and slightly above its weekly low.

Moreover, Bitcoin’s circulating supply has nearly reached 20 million coins, reinforcing narratives of long-term scarcity.
