In a notable initiative, Bitcoin Magazine Books has launched a campaign on Friday to commemorate the third anniversary of Aaron van Wirdum’s The Genesis Book. This campaign features a specially redesigned Collector’s Edition, which is limited to just 333 hand-signed and individually numbered hardcover copies, each encased in an exclusive Genesis Block slipcase.

Each Collector’s Edition hardcover bears the hand signature and number of van Wirdum, the former editor-in-chief of Bitcoin Magazine. This book meticulously details the individuals, projects, and concepts that laid the groundwork for Satoshi Nakamoto’s peer-to-peer cash system. The standard package is priced at $221 and includes the book alongside a limited trading card, which comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, a collector pin, a sticker sheet, the slipcase, and a digital package.

Additionally, there are two unique one-of-one packages outside the standard series. The #1 package is priced at $5,000, while the #21 package is available for $2,500. Both include a matching numbered copy, an exclusive one-of-one collector card, and the same accessories included in the standard collector package.

According to the campaign’s FAQ, standard collector numbers will be assigned based on the order of purchase, starting from #2 and with #21 being skipped. Once preorders are closed, the signed print run of The Genesis Book will not be reproduced.

Components of the Anniversary Editions

In addition to the signed editions, Bitcoin Magazine Books is offering a Premium Edition hardcover priced at $160. This edition features foil stamping, a ribbon marker, stained page edges, and custom endsheets. It is important to note that this edition is not limited, signed, or numbered, and does not include the collector accessories or digital files.

Moreover, a standalone Digital Package is available for $9.99, which provides immediate access to the ebook in EPUB format and the audiobook in MP4, irrespective of the physical campaign’s funding status.

The shipment of physical collector and premium orders is anticipated within the calendar year 2027.

Van Wirdum, who became acquainted with Bitcoin in 2013 and subsequently led the editorial desk at Bitcoin Magazine, characterizes The Genesis Book as a chronicle of the computer scientists, privacy advocates, and heterodox economists who pursued government-independent digital currency long before the publication of the 2008 white paper. This narrative spans the early cypherpunk movement and includes critical developments such as David Chaum’s ecash, Wei Dai’s b-money, Adam Back’s Hashcash, and Hal Finney’s reusable proof of work.

It should be noted that the images of the slipcase and accessories shown on the campaign page are artistic renderings; actual color, materials, and finishes may differ upon final production. The campaign is operated by BTC Inc., the publisher of Bitcoin Magazine.
