On Tuesday, Bitcoin’s price remained close to $80,500, sustaining a position above the critical $80,000 threshold, which has emerged as a pivotal marker in the market. Throughout the day, prices fluctuated between approximately $79,400 and $80,800, according to data from Bitcoin Magazine Pro, with the asset reflecting a modest increase of around 0.3% compared to the previous 24 hours by mid-afternoon Eastern time.

This relative stability follows a challenging period for Bitcoin. The price dipped below $80,000 on Monday as investors reduced their risk exposure, influenced by apprehensions surrounding valuations in the AI sector and rising oil prices. Additionally, spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have also experienced losses. Nevertheless, this selling trend has not escalated into widespread panic, as Bitcoin has mainly traded within a range of approximately $79,000 to $81,000 during the week.

From a longer-term perspective, the outlook appears less favorable for those who purchased Bitcoin near its peak. The cryptocurrency reached an all-time high of approximately $126,000 in October 2025, positioning its current value roughly 30% lower than it was a year ago.

The upcoming Federal Reserve policy meeting on October 27 and 28 is anticipated to yield significant developments, with the decision expected on Wednesday. Following a previous increase in September, the central bank has maintained its target interest range at 3.75% to 4%, with indications from officials suggesting a potential need for another rate hike before the year’s end.

Market expectations lean toward maintaining rates, although the figures reported earlier in October may no longer reflect current sentiment. Market participants are likely to closely observe Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference for insights regarding any prospective December rate adjustments.

Interpreting Bitcoin Price Dynamics Amidst the Midterm Elections

The rationale for Bitcoin’s pricing is straightforward: higher interest rates tend to reduce liquidity in speculative assets, implying that any hawkish surprise could push prices back down toward or below the $80,000 mark.

Conversely, if rates are held steady or signaling a more accommodating tone, buyers may find opportunities to drive prices toward the $88,000 range observed earlier this fall. The upcoming midterm elections on November 3 add another dimension to market sentiment. According to recent analysis from prediction markets, Democrats are favored to win both chambers of Congress.

In terms of immediate implications for cryptocurrency, the focal policy matter is the pending market structure bill, with lawmakers’ decisions potentially influencing the industry’s strategic landscape during the election cycle. Historically, Bitcoin and other risk assets have tended to experience rallies within the year following past midterm elections.

Analysts from TD Cowen caution that the election results could delay the CLARITY Act for an estimated two years. Current prediction market estimates suggest Democrats have a 90% likelihood of retaining control of the House and a 62% chance of securing the Senate—a political outcome that TD Cowen has characterized as the least favorable scenario for Bitcoin.

A division in Congress, where Republicans control the Senate, is perceived as a more advantageous situation, while a complete Republican victory is seen as the most favorable scenario for the cryptocurrency market. The bill faced delays following a failed Senate cloture vote in September due to disputes over ethics provisions and stablecoin yields.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at approximately $80,600.
