The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has become the latest organization to express support for the long-anticipated Clarity Act.
In a statement released on Friday, directed specifically at Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren and Timothy Scott, the fraternal organization indicated its approval of the proposed legislation. The FOP seeks to enhance the working conditions of law enforcement personnel.
The revised draft includes a prohibition against officials and their families from issuing or endorsing cryptocurrencies, a matter previously contested by opposing lawmakers. On Wednesday, Senator Warren, a known critic of cryptocurrencies, asserted that the new bill could potentially enable President Donald Trump to profit from crypto and benefit criminal enterprises.

The correspondence stated, “The latest version of the ‘Clarity Act’ encompasses several provisions that enhance the capacity of State and local law enforcement to protect consumers, investigate financial crimes, and collaborate with their Federal counterparts.”
Furthermore, the statement noted, “The revised bill introduces safeguards aimed at mitigating fraud and victimization associated with digital asset kiosks and related activities, while also incorporating anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance obligations across the digital asset ecosystem.”
Currently, U.S. lawmakers are considering the latest iteration of the Clarity Act, which aims to formalize regulations for the digital asset market.
Additional Support for the Bill
Prominent crypto advocacy groups, including the Crypto Council for Innovation, Blockchain Association, and the Digital Chamber, also registered their support for the latest draft of the Clarity Act on Friday.
These trade organizations contend that the passage of the bill is essential to establish the “first comprehensive federal consumer protection framework for digital asset markets,” especially as an increasing number of Americans engage with and invest in cryptocurrencies.
The Clarity Act, which received Republican approval last year, has faced a stalemate primarily due to concerns from banking leaders regarding stablecoins and the potential yields they may offer to customers.
Notably, America’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase, withdrew its support for the bill in January after disagreements with banking authorities, who asserted that earning yields on stablecoins should be prohibited.
U.S. banks have expressed concerns that they could lose customers if crypto exchanges present more appealing products for depositors.
A new bill has been circulating this week, with expectations that it will soon proceed to a floor vote.
The latest draft continues to prohibit officials and their families from engaging in the issuance or promotion of cryptocurrencies—an issue of contention for Democratic politicians who argue that President Trump’s family has benefited inappropriately from crypto ventures.
While President Trump campaigned with a promise to support the crypto industry, his ventures into digital assets have raised concerns among Washington lawmakers who believe that his family has unfairly profited from these businesses.
