Strive experienced a substantial increase in its stock price on Monday, following the announcement of a $143 million bitcoin acquisition, positioning the company as the fifth largest publicly traded cryptocurrency treasury.

The Nasdaq-listed entity disclosed that it acquired 1,800 bitcoins from August 24 to August 28 at an average price of $79,431, as stated in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Based in Dallas, Texas, Strive’s total bitcoin holdings now amount to 23,156 coins, valued at approximately $1.8 billion at current market rates. As of 12:30 PM New York time, the company’s stock (NASDAQ: ASST) traded approximately 9% higher. Since the beginning of the year, Strive’s stock has appreciated by nearly 40%.

Strive’s year-to-date bitcoin yield, which evaluates the growth of bitcoin holdings relative to the number of shares, reached 40.8% as of the August 28 filing, a notable rise from less than 37% in early June.

Currently, Strive ranks as the fifth largest bitcoin treasury, following Strategy, Twenty One, Metaplanet, and MARA.

Founded in 2025 by former Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive commenced operations with a $750 million fundraising initiative aimed at acquiring bitcoin, establishing itself as an official bitcoin treasury.

In January 2026, Strive successfully completed an all-stock acquisition of Semler Scientific, marking the first instance of a publicly traded bitcoin treasury company merging with another such entity.

This strategic approach allows investors to potentially achieve enhanced returns from Strive’s stock. The company acquires bitcoin using equity and maintains a debt-free balance sheet, devoid of bonds, credit lines, or leveraged positions that could lead to forced liquidation during market downturns.

Matt Cole, the CEO of Strive, has emphasized the company’s financial integrity by stating it operates without debt, margin requirements, or encumbered bitcoin assets.

Strive’s recent acquisition aligns with a broader market trend, as Strategy, the largest corporate bitcoin holder, resumed purchasing activities last week.

Following a 10-week hiatus, the software company revealed it had acquired 4,603 bitcoins for $369.7 million between August 24 and August 30.
