On Thursday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent publicly endorsed the proposed crypto Clarity Act, referencing the insights of Satoshi Nakamoto during his remarks.
In a post on X, Secretary Bessent emphasized the urgency for the Senate to “vote NOW on this landmark legislation” and called out specific Democratic lawmakers, notably Elizabeth Warren, for impeding the bill’s progress.
Legislators are aiming for the Clarity Act to be ratified prior to Congress’s August recess. Although the bill has been developed through bipartisan efforts, there remains dissent among some Democratic members regarding its current iteration.

Secretary Bessent articulated that “the truth is that Senate Democrats are hesitant to proceed with the Clarity Act due to concerns regarding Senator Warren and the so-called ‘Anti-Crypto Army’ she pledged to establish.”
He further questioned, “Will Senate Democrats align with the ideal of American Exceptionalism, or will they relinquish the United States’ leadership in a burgeoning global industry out of fear of opposition from within their own party?”
He concluded, “The fact remains that America has the choice to lead or not to lead. It is a matter of simplicity. As Satoshi aptly stated: ‘If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry.’
Senator Elizabeth Warren has consistently criticized the cryptocurrency sector, and her stance has intensified in response to former President Donald Trump’s vocal support for digital currencies.
Current discussions among lawmakers include revisions to the Clarity Act. The bill has garnered endorsements from several prominent non-profit and financial organizations, which have proposed amendments related to ethical considerations; however, certain Democrats remain dissatisfied with its language.
Recently, Warren condemned the legislation, claiming it would “facilitate the movement of illicit funds” and arguing that “it does not prevent Donald Trump from profiting during his presidency.”
Former President Trump ran a campaign focused on benefitting the cryptocurrency industry and has received substantial support from digital asset entrepreneurs.
Nevertheless, some legislators in Washington have raised concerns regarding the potential financial gains the Trump family has gained from ventures related to digital assets, such as the Republican’s meme coin, TRUMP, and the World Liberty Financial project.
Trump and his administration have continually refuted any allegations of conflicts of interest.
Representatives from U.S. banking institutions, regulatory bodies, and prominent figures within the cryptocurrency sector have been collaborating with the White House on the Clarity Act since the previous year.
Should the Clarity Act be ratified, it would establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies in the largest economy in the world.
